RIPN Representatives Joined Internet Development Council in the Ministry of Communications of Russia

The Ministry of Communications and Mass Communication established the Council for the use and development of the "Internet" information and telecommunications network in the Russian Federation. This Council has a RIPN membership.

The purpose of the Council is to ensure concerted actions between the Ministry of Communications of Russia, concerned federal executive bodies and public organizations with respect to the use and development of the Internet in Russia.

The Council will develop joint initiatives, programs and projects related to the development of the Internet, and prepare proposals to improve the regulatory and normative methodological base of the Internet.

The Council is also represented by the State Duma of RF, the Ministry of Communications of Russia, Rospress, ITAR-TASS, RIA "News", "Comstar-OTS", "Mail.ru", VGTRK, RU-CERT, "Central Telegraph", "TransTeleCom", "Yandex", ROCIT, "Sovintel", "Rostelecom", Coordination Center for TLD RU.

Igor Shchegolev, Minister of Communications and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation, has been elected Council Chairman. The Council meetings will be held at least twice a half-year.
