Russian Institute for Public Networks (RIPN) and National
Long-Distance Communication Operator Rostelekom extended the
scope of RIPN-Rostelekom Master Agreement for traffic exchange
platforms development in RF regions signed last year.
The Parties agreed to set Internet traffic exchange
software-hardware complexes (Internet Exchange, IX) in
Khabarovsk and Vladivostok, Far-Eastern Federal District.
Similar traffic exchange nodes already operate in Moscow,
Saint-Petersburg, Samara, Novosibirsk and Yekaterinburg.
Launching of Internet traffic exchange platforms will
considerably enhance connectivity of the Russian segment
within the global network, accelerate content receipt by
consumers and offload trunk lines.
