The total domain name registrations reached the mark of 700 000 in 2006

According to the report of the Technical Center of RU TLD, total domain name registrations reached the mark of 700 000 in 2006, representing an 60,78% growth since 2005.

The number of the domain names holders grew to 328, 547 in 2006. This represents a 40,61% increase since 2005.

The growth of number of .RU domains owners is slowed down but the average of domains per registrant grows. This tendency was exhibited in 2005 and was strengthened in 2006.

In 2003, 91198 owners controlled only one domain. In 2004 this figure was increased to 130 812, in 2005 - to 183 790, and by the end of 2006 - to 254 342 owners.

The share of owners controlling the only one domain name among the general number of owners does not vary greatly. In that way, in 2003 it amounted 78,71% of the owners, and in 2006 - 77,41%.

The number of the servers supporting domains in RU TLD has increased to 60,846 and by 30,64%

The share of legal persons owning domains continued to decrease in 2006. It amounted 36% against 44% at the end of 2005 from the total quantity of the users. Thus, the share of natural persons owning domain names has increased by 64%.

According to the results of the last year, the share of foreign holders of domains in RU TLD amounts 3% from the total number of the registered domain names.
